I was more thinking the 65 profile, that's higher than my drag radial tyres,

Skinny tyres can work too, but depends if the car suffers from understeer. Hence ice racing, it can also work well in the wet, depending on tyre design, less chance of aqua planing, it was more inner arch, outer arch clearence and cornering effect as I've never had the pleasure of driving a beetle so unaware of chassis / geometry faults
