    Dirk

I like the idea, but that assumes you have the land to actually place it on

You can never find one exactly when (or where) you want one, so set up a search with notifications and be patient.

When one comes up you will need to be ready to buy. Even if you don't hold it forever you will normally be able to sell and get your money back later, or simply rent it out once you are done with it

I don't remember where you are based exactly, but here are some

Prices vary on condition and location etc..
Interesting thanks; I will set something up.

Silly question: Do you pay Council Tax or Business Rates on a Garage?

    I haven't!!

I did have the council contact me when I was renting one of mine out to a carpet fitter. Basically he was in and out at all hours with his diesel van running, neighbours not happy and contacted the council who contacted me asking for commercial rates. Needless to say I didn't renew his rental term and haven't paid commercial rates, so for personal use / storage you will be ok

I would not think council tax applies to a 'property' that can not be lived in by law, which would cover a garage. Not sure about buisiness rates, but wouldn't that only apply if you operate a buisness from it?

Yes, that was the basis they tried to charge me as my tenant was a business using it for storage of carpets
